Perseverance

We spurn despair and strive to complete tasks to the best of our abilities, regardless of the difficulty. We respond creatively to overcome obstacles and ask for help when necessary.

Quote of the Week

“So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s a Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed!) Kid, you’ll move mountains!”

History Homework due Monday, 8/20

The students were given an exciting History assignment yesterday after being introduced to the Maya civilization. They learned about an intensely competitive game that these people played over one thousand years ago. The game was called "pok-ta-pok" and involved players attempting to drive a large ball into a ring slightly larger than the ball. The challenge was that the players were not allowed to use their hands or feet to move the ball! The students showed great excitement and interest in this ancient sport, and had many questions to ask. Their assignment is to write a sports report as if they were at a live pok-ta-pok match! This should be half a page (on loose-leaf paper) and should include detailed facts about what would go on during a game, from beginning to end. Their History books are a great resource for this assignment, as well as the notes we took in class.

Have fun! I can't wait to read them!
