Perseverance

We spurn despair and strive to complete tasks to the best of our abilities, regardless of the difficulty. We respond creatively to overcome obstacles and ask for help when necessary.

Quote of the Week

“So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s a Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed!) Kid, you’ll move mountains!”

Socratic Discussion: 10/24/2012

Today your children read and discussed Ray Bradbury’s short story, "All Summer in a Day". Topics that were touched upon include:

-          -bullying and great-hearted behavior
-          -obsessing / making one thing the center of your attention
-         - temptation and its effects
-         - the concept of extremity and its relation to moderation
-        -  extreme happiness / being truly elated for a brief moment

Please read this story and discuss it further with your children; I’d love to hear where your conversation goes!
