Language Arts: Due to the short week, we will not be
completing the next chapter in G.Y.V. This week, we will bring our
journey with Milo, Tock, and all of their eccentric, witty friends, to an end. The
students will complete the expository paragraph about Digitopolis; I hope you
get a chance to read this writing assignment because the kids are really
working hard to describe meaning of the exciting adventure that Milo has undergone!
We will also assemble the lapbooks that the students have worked hard on
compiling throughout the book. The folds include a wide array of information-
from characters to puns to a slew of poetic devices. On Friday, we will
celebrate the novel by hosting a Phantom Tollbooth party / Chess Tournament.
Our classroom will host the Chess games, while Mrs. Propheter and Ms.
Infantolino’s classrooms will host Dictionopolis and Digitopolis. We would love

The students
will be tested on Latin and Greek words #26-50 on Friday, so you should be
seeing your child studying these each night at home. Words #26-50 and a study
guide can be found on the right side of this page.
History/Geography: Has your child enlightened you with
interesting information about Feudal Japan? How about the fascinating origin of
Japan’s main religions, Buddhism and Shinto? The kids have been very interested
in learning about this Eastern culture; I hope you’ve learned some new information,
too! We will wrap up this unit early this week and end with a test on both Early Russia and Feudal Japan on
Thursday. Your children have had a study guide since last week to prepare themselves
for the exam.
Science: Did you hear!? Miss Scheuch is
enlightening our students about the beauty of plants; we are so thrilled to
have her! The students have been learning about vascular and nonvascular plants,
and this week, they’ll dive into photosynthesis and discuss its importance to
plants and the ecosystem. We will pick this unit back up when we return for the
third quarter.
