Perseverance

We spurn despair and strive to complete tasks to the best of our abilities, regardless of the difficulty. We respond creatively to overcome obstacles and ask for help when necessary.

Quote of the Week

“So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s a Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed!) Kid, you’ll move mountains!”

A Few Updates Regarding Supplies

Greetings Parents!

Thank you very much for ensuring that your child has all of the correct supplies to kick off a successful school year! As you know, the students are encouraged to bring in their school supplies on Wednesday evening during the “Meet the Teacher” event, so they can organize their desks accordingly. Please be aware of the important details, which will allow for greater efficiency  while settling in.

·        NOVELS: Thank you for purchasing all of the wonderful, classic literature for your child to read this year! Since we will not need all of the books at once, we will ask that you only bring the novel that we are currently studying. Your child will need The Secret Garden first, so you may keep the rest at home until we need it. (You can leave the Poetry book at home for now, as well.) Please write your child's first and last name in/on the cover of each novel.

·        SPIRAL NOTEBOOKS: We apologize for any confusion about the quantity of spiral notebooks that were listed on the school supplies list. Your child will need five, 70 paged spiral notebooks, and one, three subject spiral notebook, which contains 120 pages.

·         EXPANDABLE FOLDER: Please ensure that your child has an expandable folder with 12 files in it. We will label each tab as a class on Friday.

·        LOOSE LEAF PAPER: Your child was asked to have 8 packages of loose leaf paper for fifth grade. These will be brought in gradually throughout the school year; you can expect to send in two packages per quarter. Please only bring in two packages for now, and leave the rest at home. Thank you!

·        CLASSROOM ESSENTIALS: Please do not bring in any disinfecting wipes, paper towel rolls, facial tissue, or hand sanitizer just yet! I will email families alphabetically throughout the year, as we need more supplies. If your last name beings with A, B or C, you can expect to bring these in sooner than later. ;)

·        SOCKS: If you have any socks that you are willing to part with, please feel free to bring them in so we can use them as white board erasers. Thank you!

·         CLIPBOARD: The students will all store their clipboards in a crate, to maximize the space in their desks. Please make sure your child’s name is clearly written on the clipboard in Sharpie marker.

·        COPY PAPER: You may bring both reams on Wednesday. (Thank you!)

Thank you again very much for providing your child with all of these supplies. We understand that the list seems lengthy, but with care and organization, these will last all year!

Yours in Preparedness,

Miss Pantalena :)
